My first ‘Archicool’ post is a building very worthy of this auspicious (and self invented) title!
Found in the meatpacking district of NYC, this building houses the headquarters of fashion company Diane Von Furstenberg as well as a penthouse dwelling. (I love the roof garden – NOT loving the leopard print floor rug!-just not my thing!)
A ‘Stairdelier’ was created to provide natural light throughout the building. By installing Heliostat mirrors in the diamond roof. The mirrors redirect the natural light through a central stairwell where Swarovski glass crystals catch the light and disperse into each floor.
