Brighton luxury

Contemporary and luxurious character filled family home

The Brighton House started its life as a very large 1980s home and, whilst it had plenty of space, it was ready for a complete rethink. We undertook a major renovation, reworking the interior architecture throughtout the home to create home that felt contemporary, highly functional and -most importantly, completeley tailored to the family who live there.

Having worked with the clients previously,  I already understood how they liked to live and what they are drawn to aesthetically, and there was a level of trust established that allowed us to be a little braver and push the design further, ultimatley creating something that felt more layered, personal and unexpected.

This is a project with many layers, and whilst sharing some of here, there will be much more to reveal. From bespoke joinery and carefully considered detailing to the furniture, art -every corner has been thoughtfully curated. We look forward to sharing more of the Brighton House as the story unfolds

The bathrooms throughout Brighton House were designed with a simple philosophy: the spaces should reflect the people using them. Rather than creating a suite of identical rooms, each bathroom was carefully considered to suit its occupants, their routines and how they will use the space over time.

The Children’s bathrooms balance practicality with personality. Designed to evolve as the children grow, they combine durable materials and throughtful planning with a sense of charachter that feels both age-appropriate today and timeless for years ahead.

The main ensuite tkes a different approach. Conceived as a private retreat, it was designed to bring a sense of calm to both the beginning and end of the day. Curves define the entire room, softening the architecture and creating an imediate sense of ease. A freestanding curved wall gently seperates the space, while the ensute itself sits within a circular form that wraps the room in a continuous gesture. Above, an oval skylight echoes the shape of the bath below, bringing in a natural light and reinforcing the sculptural language of the design. Layered materials and refined detailing complete the space resulting in a quiet luxurious sanctuary within the home.

The powder rooms proved an opportunity to expressive. Through considere use of colour, lightinmg and materiality, each was given its own distinct personality. These spaces maybe smaller in scale, but they play an important overall experience in the home, offering moments of charachter, surprise and delight for both family, and guests alike.

The walk in robe was designed to feel as beauitful and it is functional. Rather than treating the cupboard doors as simple storage, we used them as an opportunity to introduce colour and pattern – a pink chinoiserie wallpaper was applied to the doors and framed with blue joinery surronds, creating a striking yet elegant feature.

The retreat was intentionally designed to feel different from other living spaces within the home. Whilst main areas are calm and considered, this room was given permission to have a little more personality and a lot more fun.

The combnination of red and pink creates an unexpected colour clash that brings warmth, energy and character to the space. We leaned into this confidence through the fabric selections, with armchairs upholstered in a preppy red check that catches the eye.  The curtains take things a step further, featuring a wonderfuly bold large-scale embroidered pattern that adds movement, texture and a touch of drama.

Its a room that doesnt take itself too seriously. Comfortable, inviting and full of charachter, the retreat offers a different mood within the home – a place to relax, read and exhale.
